5 WIZKID SONGS THAT ESCAPED THE SONY MUSIC STAMP

It can be recalled that Wizkid is one of the Nigerian artiste who has a recording deal with giants Sony Music. But, it seems like Wizkid cannot release music ‘officially’ under the Wizkid moniker due to the complications of his international deal with Sony. So this means Sony probably has creative control and the final say over his ‘official’ music releases.

Davido suffered the same fate in 2016 when he went in search of international appeal with his Son Of Mercy EP. The album didn’t do so well so Davido had to renegotiate his contract and take back his creative control.
The lackluster sales of Wizkid’s Sounds From the Other Side album (the album sold a meager 6,286 units in its first week in the US) didn’t help matters either. Both parties must have disagreed on how to promote Wizkid’s music and what market to focus on. All these factors and the fact that Wizkid probably can’t release music without Sony/Rca’s input is probably frustrating for him so he has devised a ‘clever’ way to get around the Sony deal.
Wizkid has decided to put out songs with him as Starboy or collaborating with an artist where he technically doesn’t use the name. Here are Wizkid’s songs that have escaped the Sony music stamp.
1. Soco – (feat. Wizkid, Ceeza Milli, Spotless & Terri)
2. Manya – Mut4y x Wizkid
3. Medicine (Remix) ft. Flavour & Phyno
4. Everytime – Future ft. WizKid
5. Fake Love – Starboy ft. Duncan Mighty, Wizkid
